Phlebotomist
Classification: FT/PT TBD
Location: Multiple Sites
CMB is dedicated to providing excellent patient care and service to our clients and are looking for phlebotomists that share this commitment. CMB has multiple draw stations located throughout Orange County and Long Beach. Days and hours may vary depending on location.
Description:
** Responsibilities may include, but are not limited, to the following:
· Collection of blood and other samples from patients.
· Packaging and dispatching of specimens.
· Stock maintenance.
· Provides care and excellent customer service to both patients and providers.
· Ensures specimen integrity by enforcing laboratory procedures for collection, handling and processing.
Additional responsibilities for lead phlebotomists:
· Maintains, implements, adheres to and enforces departmental operating policies and procedures, including quality control, quality assurance and safety.
· Oversees and maintains phlebotomist schedules and organizes coverage when necessary.
· Ensures specimen integrity by enforcing laboratory procedures for collection, handling and processing.
Required Skills:
· A phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency, completion of an approved phlebotomy training course or equivalent experience through previous employment.
· Minimum 2 years prior experience. (5 years for lead).
· Must have current CPT license, current CA phlebotomy certification and be certified in CPR.
· Proficient in all of the following: blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups, urine collections, pediatric blood collections, geriatric blood collection and other difficult draws.
· Comprehensive understanding of compliance (HIPAA) and safety regulations, and ability to effectively communicate the importance of quality and safety to other staff.
· Must be proficient in laboratory tests, specimen requirements and specimen processing.
· Must be able to maintain professionalism at all times.
· Must be bilingual - fluent in English/Spanish with excellent verbal and written skills.
· Must have excellent communication and customer service skills; contact with clients and patients are required.
· Experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Office, electronic mail.
· Ability to operate office equipment such as printer, faxes, and photocopiers.
· Must have excellent organizational and decision making skills.
