Job Description: Restaurant General Manager
Summary:
The General Manager oversees daily restaurant operations, manages staff, and ensures customer satisfaction. This role includes inventory management, profit optimization, and compliance with food safety standards. The General Manager reports to the restaurant owner.
Key Responsibilities:
General Management:
- Oversee all restaurant areas and make critical decisions.
- Ensure positive customer experiences and handle any issues.
- Assist in expediting orders and support staff as needed.
Financial Management:
- Follow standards to increase sales and control costs, including for food, labor, and utilities.
- Manage financial and payroll related administrative duties according to company policies.
Food Safety and Planning:
- Enforce food handling, cleanliness, and maintenance standards.
- Ensure high quality food preparation and service.
- Manage food and beverage costs and minimize waste.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Maintain secure and safe conditions for staff and guests.
- Address food quality and service complaints effectively.
Personnel Management:
- Handle recruitment, training, and management of staff.
- Maintain staffing schedules and manage payroll.
Community Involvement:
- Actively participate and engage with the local community.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in hotel/restaurant management or related field.
- 10 years of experience as a general manager in a restaurant.
- Proficient in managing both front and back of the house operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Personal Requirements:
- Must exhibit leadership, initiative, and the ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
Accountabilities:
- Keep ownership informed of all significant issues.
- Perform duties effectively in line with company policies.
Working Conditions:
- A typical work week of 50 hours may vary based on needs.
- Physical requirements include standing for long periods and handling up to 45 pounds.
