Clover Park School District is Hiring a Compliance & Student Services Specialist Near Lakewood, WA

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Under general direction of the Executive Director of Compliance & Student Services, provides liaison services between the department, building administrators, school staff for: 1) McKinney Vento/Foster youth and their families; 2) truant students and their families; and 3) Native American students and their families to facilitate the students’ educational goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate transportation/food services to ensure appropriate arrangements for homeless and foster youth.

  • Coordinate the notifications of educational rights of homeless children and youth in schools and communities where homeless families may receive services.
  • Collect and analyze data for foster students and homeless students pertaining to academic achievement, behavior, discipline, and graduation rates.
  • Support counselors, teachers and administration when identifying problems of tardiness, attendance, and student truancy.
  • Partner with schools to promote and schedule Community Engagement Boards.
  • Monitor student attendance, academic performance, and social adjustment.
  • Serve as a liaison or spokesperson with building administrators and teachers, as needed.
  • Collaborate with Executive Director for Compliance & Student Services regarding attendance interventions, training, and communication about truancy.
  • Perform clerical duties related to BECCA petitions-review and mail petitions to families via certified mail.
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate various activities with Native American students and their families, including dance workshops, cultural heritage festivals, higher educational guidance and other activities as needed.
  • Represent the District on and coordinate the Native American Parent Advisory Committee. Plan, develop, seek approval for and implement programs for students as identified by the parent advisory committee.
  • Provide encouragement to students, individually and in classes, to remain in school and pursue educational goals. Makes home visits to Native American families, as appropriate.
  • Assist with coordinating resources and referrals for higher education opportunities, health and social services and cultural services available to Native American students and homeless and unaccompanied youth.
  • Conduct census count for identification of Native American students.
  • Maintain databases for Native American, McKinney Vento and foster students through data collection and report writing in support of program needs.
  • Research and gather data for District grant proposal for program funding.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • A two or four-year degree in education, human services, or related field, and a minimum of two years of successful relevant, documented work experience with adults and/or parents.
  • Experience developing needs assessments, writing, and monitoring grants, and providing program evaluation services.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, or experience will be reviewed for comparability.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40.14 - $43.08 per hour
