About the Role

We are looking for a motivated, technically proficient and customer focused individual who wants to join our team as an Area Manager. We are hiring for our Chicago, IL warehouse location. In this role, you work closely with the front line associates within the Sortation Center to ensure packages are grouped together accurately and routed to the correct location.

One of the key areas of focus for this role is motivating, mentoring and monitoring the team during daily workflows. The Area Manager ensures front line associates have all of the tools and skills necessary to successfully complete all assigned tasks. You will engage the teams during various shifts to ensure the highest levels of safety and quality are being maintained. Additionally, ensuring work is performed at efficient levels and meeting internal metrics is a priority for someone in this role. This position is ideal for an organized self-starter who is tech-savvy looking to work within the fast growing logistics space.

Key Responsibilities Include: 

  • Strategically managing warehouse in compliance with company’s policies and vision.
  • Developing and leading a team of up to 20 associates.
  • Collaborating directly with associates and working alongside them when necessary to ensure smooth operations, while fostering a positive, hands-on leadership approach.
  • Communicating policies and changes in procedures to associates as needed.
  • Developing performance goals and defect objectives to ensure customer needs are met with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Managing all customer requests quickly and effectively.
  • Providing corrective action for associates as needed to continually improve quality of results.
  • Supporting all safety programs and OSHA compliance regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Managing inventory to ensure accurate stock levels and proper storage / handling of products to meet operational needs.
  • Overseeing and encouraging employee recognition/incentive programs, building a strong sense of teamwork and unity among the staff to continually improve the quality of work and engagement.
  • Working in an environment subject to variable temperatures and weather.
  • Working a flexible schedule (weekends and/or overnight shifts).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proven work experience as a Warehouse Manager.
  • 2 years of direct management experience for employees and their performance.
  • Must be technically proficient.
  • Experience with Google G Suite.
  • Ability to stand and walk during a full day shift that can and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach, as well as climb and descend stairs.
  • Ability to occasionally work longer shifts up to 12 hours depending upon the needs of the business.
  • Ability to lift/carry items weighing up to 50lbs.
  • High school Diploma with advanced education or accreditation.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced accreditation in a logistics discipline.
  • Adept at analyzing data to form actionable plans to drive results.
  • Ability to motivate a team of associates in a dead-line driven environment.
  • Ability to deep dive data to provide workable business solution to limit defects.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

The US salary range for this full-time position is $50,000 - $70,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position across all US locations.
