Overview:

We are looking for a Mainframe COBOL Developer to join our team supporting one of our State of New Jersey clients analyzing a Criminal History Systems (CCH). In this role you will work closely with Stakeholders and other team members in defining requirements for a legacy modernization project. Responsibilities will include analyzing existing COBOL code, extracting some rules and assisting in performing a technical analysis.

Tasks and Duties:

• Collaborate with technical and business units to understand the functionality currently supported by our mainframe technology and interfaces.
• Conduct a comprehensive inventory and analysis of technical components, including programs (both online and batch), data stores, interfaces, code repositories, file storage management systems, and development tools.
• Programs: Analyze Cobol and CICS programs running on MVS platform.
• Data Store: Evaluate CA-Datacom, SQL-enabled tables, and DB2 databases.
• Interfaces: Assess MQ and MoveIT integrations.
• Code Repository: Review usage of CA-Librarian for version control.
• File Storage Management: Understand the use of VSAM and sequential file storage.
• Development Tools: Familiarize with TSO, ROSCOE, DQuery, and Intertest.
• Utilize strong technical analysis skills to identify opportunities for modernization, optimization, and efficiency improvements within the mainframe system.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience on mainframe modernization projects.
• Expertise on Datacon databases
• In-depth knowledge of mainframe technologies and programs including COBOL, Online and Batch, CICS, and MVS.
• Experience using data store such as CA-Datacon, SQL and DB2
• Experience using interfaces such as MQ or MoveIT
• Familiarity with mainframe development tools such as TSO, ROSCOE, DQuery, and Intertest.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex technical environments and identify opportunities for improvement.
