JOB DESCRIPTION: Personal Care Aide CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt, hourly

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must have an incredible amount of patience and an overall kind disposition. A strong interest in working with the elderly and an ability to interact with administration, staff, residents and their families and the general public in a competent and pleasing manner. Ability to perform physical activities that involve the use of legs, arms, and movement of the whole body for prolonged periods of time. Ability to lift, push and/or transfer up to 25 pounds.

Ability to work under demanding, stressful conditions; ability to multi-task and prioritize work load. Provide care in a calm manner when responding to emergencies. Time management and strong decision making skills are necessary. Ability to tactfully get along with diverse personalities.

Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and be willing to drive. Must be willing to work every other weekend.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

The personal care aide is responsible for assisting the residents with activities of daily living, and providing direct care in accordance to the New York State Department of Health regulations for adult homes and the policies and procedures of Harpending Housing, Inc., d.b.a. Clinton Crest Manor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The employee must be able to perform each essential function effectively to be successful in this position:

· Attend all required orientation, mandated in-service programs, and first aid training, any of which may be

scheduled on a non-work day.

· Provide resident services in a safe and dignified manner including direct personal care services for residents such as, but not limited to, personal hygiene assistance, assistance with bathing, dressing, brushing teeth, eating and with leisure time activities.

· Provide medication supervision for residents as necessary. This may include reviewing medication regimens for expiration dates, accurate labels, and self-medicating residents. Maintain resident records and report changes to administration.

· Perform a variety of other activities including, but not limited to, serving meals and removing dishes in the dining room and trays in residents rooms, changing bed linens and making beds, vacuuming floors, emptying

waste baskets, laundry, and doing housekeeping chores as necessary to keep the environment neat, clean, and

free of hazards.

· Work non-scheduled hours if necessary.

· Participate in resident care meetings.

· Participate in staff meetings and events.

· Answer resident calls for assistance in a timely manner.

· Communicate effectively with Clinton Crest Manor team. Communicate resident needs to PCA Coordinators.

Receive/provide shift report at every change of shift.

· Perform duties as designated relief administrator when scheduled.

· Utilize personal service skills including active listening and the ability to intuitively know when additional services may be needed.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.25 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
