CLINPATH DIAGNOSTICS is Hiring a Part Time - Scheduler - Bone Marrow Near Tempe, AZ
JOB SUMMARY: Hours: MOnday-Friday 9am-1pm
Bone Marrow Assistants require expanded knowledge and understanding of laboratory techniques and the ability to perform technical tasks, as assigned, based on specific department needs. Good reading, writing, and math abilities are required. Must be able to demonstrate good problem solving skills, highly developed interpersonal skills, and a high level of self-motivation. Employees are responsible for following all Company policies and procedures. These policies and procedures will include adherence to regulatory standards such as CAP, CLIA and OSHA, including safety standards in performing all aspects of the functions below.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
All Lab Technician positions:
Have an advanced understanding of laboratory techniques with an emphasis on department specific techniques.
Possess high-level oral and written communication and problem solving skills to communicate effectively with co-workers, managers, clients, and pathologists
Must be able to multi-task, accurately, and with a focus on quality
Must be proficient in basic computer skills
Must be able to work with minimal supervision; ability to self-direct
Operate department specific equipment, to include daily and routine maintenance
Perform daily and routine department specific QC documentation
Prepare laboratory reagents and solutions; follow appropriate disposal protocols
Successful participation in proficiency testing, if applicable
Maintain department specific competency
Assist in ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
Troubleshoot relevant equipment and technical matters
Assist in other duties and projects as assigned by department manager
DEPARTMENT-SPECIFIC Bone Marrow Assistant
Assisting Nurse Practitioner and Pathologists with bone marrow collection as well as training new employees or additional employees
Maintain bone marrow cart supplies in all locations
Accession bone marrow cases into Novopath
Assist in Molecular Department, Send-outs, and bone marrow scheduling as needed
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT:
In exercising these functions the employee must be able to exert up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force routinely to move objects.
Employee may be exposed to blood products, knife cuts, hazardous waste and chemical fumes, so appropriate precautionary measures must be followed at all times. Certain situations require eye protection, mask, lab coat and or gloves. Hazardous Waste training required.
Bone Marrow Assistants have direct patient contact. Knowledge of safe practices is required.
Must be able to perform repetitive motion
Some molecular testing requires darkroom work

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent One year of relevant laboratory experience Level I: less than 3 years of relevant work experience II: 3-7 years of relevant work experience III: 8 years of relevant work experience (All experience to be determined at the discretion of the Department Manager)
