Clinical & Support Options is Hiring a Kitchen Operations Support, Springfield Near Springfield, MA

CSO is looking for Kitchen Operations Support Staff for Friends of the Homeless in Springfield.

This position will provide assistance for the overall efficient and safe operation of the agency's kitchen/dining services. Spends time actively maintaining the sanitation and food safety of the kitchen and dining environments by receiving and organizing deliveries, washing floors and surfaces, cleaning and organizing dishes and equipment, handling trash and recycling efforts, and assisting with general meal service operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a clean kitchen by properly sorting, washing, and storing dishes, utensils, and pots/pans, etc. This includes the setting up of dish stations, including dish machines and sinks and keeping dish area organized and free of clutter.
  • Maintains clean and dry floors throughout the shift.
  • Safely performs basic food preparation and production tasks in the timely service of healthy, high-quality meals, snacks, and beverages.
  • Serves food and drink to clients and shelter guests in adherence to CSO's customer service standards.
  • Completes prep-list tasks, maintenance/cleaning tasks, organizing, and cleaning-related opening/closing procedures, etc.
  • Helps ensure all appliances, equipment, and serveware are properly used, cleaned, stored, and kept in full working order in organized and accessible ways.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety of all kitchen areas and operations.
  • Follows directions to help ensure food safety and to mitigate cross contamination or food-borne illness at all levels: delivery, storage, stock rotation, preparation, holding (temperature), and cleanup.
  • Communicates problems effectively with the Kitchen Manager or Shift Supervisor.
  • Helps maintain proper inventory of food and supplies by communicating low levels of items, maintaining organized storage, rotating and labeling stock, etc.
  • Welcomes volunteers and volunteer groups and helps ensure their donated time is both productive and enjoyable in accordance with agency customer service, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Adhere to the philosophy of “customer satisfaction” and consistently follow the same by providing reliable, responsive, consistent and high-quality trauma-informed service in a timely manner to staff, volunteers, and external customers.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED plus two years' experience in food service program; or equivalent combination of experience and training that provides required knowledge, skills and abilities. Basic knowledge of food safety, and general kitchen best practices. Basic computer skills, including email, electronic timesheets. Possess and maintain all licenses and certifications required by law. ServSafe certificate preferred (or willingness to obtain). Valid MA driver's license with good driving record.
