Essential Functions of the Position:

1. · Completes the beginning of day processes
2. · Powers up equipment
3. · Logs on all workstations in exam room and work area
4. · Sets up medical supplies and equipment for the day
5. · Enters charges for services rendered by the medical assistant
6. · Handles patient calls:
7. · Returns messages
8. · Notifies patients of test results and instructions from provider
9. · Schedules follow up appointments
10. · Makes follow up calls to check on patients post procedure as indicated by provider or office protocol
11. · Distributes, reviews, and teaches patient education
12. · Organizes and maintains sample and supply closets
13. · Prepares charts
14. · Acquires all medical records necessary for visit
15. · Makes sure all ordered tests and studies have been performed and results are present before the date of the scheduled visit
16. · Coordinates inpatient consults, surgeries, procedures, pre-operative testing, surgical clearance, and post-op visits for provider
17. · Manages the hospital list of patients, assigns patients to provider
18. · Ensures all consults are performed
19. · Adds on procedures and testing for the day as ordered
20. · Prepares referrals and obtains authorizations for Managed Care patients and documents them in Intergy
21. · Forwards the authorization to the hospital
22. · Obtains approval from the PCP for requested authorizations
23. · Schedules appointments, procedures and surgeries
24. · Notifies patients of the appointments
25. · Forwards clinical data and records to the scheduled facility
26. · Notifies provider and patient of denied requests for authorization
27. · Coordinates admissions with provider and facilities
28. · Coordinates equipment and/or surgical venders; i.e.: device reps
29. · Prepares patient packet for provider at the facility
30. · Manages and coordinates provider's surgery schedule and ensures all surgery patients on the schedule and ready
31. · Relieves other staff members and covers their position as needed
32. · Completes the end of day processes
33. · Ensures voicemails are retrieved and handled before leaving
34. · Maintains medical equipment; ensures all equipment is calibrated, cleaned and charged
35. · Collects red bags as necessary
36. · Monitors and replaces sharps containers when needed
37. · Stocks exam rooms
38. · Cleans and sanitizes exam rooms
39. · Empties HIPAA container into destruction bin
40. · Logs off of all work stations including exam rooms

Additional Responsibilities:

· Maintains an organized and clean work area

· Participates in maintenance of clinical supplies

· Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

Physical and Mental Demands:

· Travel to multiple locations

· Normal physical ability; able to sit for long periods

· Normal concentration and normal complexity of decision making

· High level verbal and written communication skills

· Above average ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Occupational Exposure:

· Low risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards

Job Qualifications:

· High school graduate or GED equivalent

· Strong customer service orientation

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

· Good working knowledge of medical terminology

· Strong computer skills

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and comfortable multi-tasking
