Our top Maryland Hospital seeks an experienced Administrative Nurse Manager to lead and manage our busy Emergency Department. The 250-bed hospital is a suburban counterpart of a Regional Healthcare System that includes award-winning centers of excellence in cardiology, emergency medicine, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and other service lines. The Emergency Department has 45 beds and accommodates approximately 50,000 patients each year.

The RN Manager in the Emergency Department (ED) assumes 24-hour accountability for coordinating resources, ensuring the delivery of quality service to all customers. This role aligns with the mission, vision, and philosophy of the hospital and the Department of Nursing. The Nurse Manager operates under the direct supervision and guidance of the Director-Patient Care Services.

As the Nurse Manager of Emergency Services, you are ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction. This involves the development and implementation of policies and procedures to guarantee the department's efficient and effective operation. Oversight of staffing, scheduling, and budgeting is a crucial responsibility, along with ensuring compliance with all local and state regulations. Providing leadership and direction to staff members includes coaching and mentoring, while also monitoring and evaluating their performance and offering feedback and guidance. Building and maintaining positive relationships with patients, families, and staff is emphasized, and any issues or conflicts within the department are promptly addressed and resolved. Coordination with other departments is integral to ensuring smooth overall operations.

The ideal ER Nurse Manager will have foundational professional knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, coupled with a practical understanding of theory and practice within the Emergency Unit. An outstanding candidate holds a degree from an accredited School of Nursing, with a preference for CCNE-accredited institutions. A strong candidate should bring relevant experience. Moreover, credentials such as CEN – Certified Emergency Nurse, CTRN – Certified Transport Registered Nurse, and TCRN – Trauma Certified Registered Nurse are considered advantageous.
