Under the direction of the Director of Patient Financial Services, the Hospital Patient Access Manager will be responsible for cultivating a streamlined registration workflow that supports accurate data collection and patient-centric attitudes among staff, as well as administering, coordinating and monitoring the performance of patient access operations; to include scheduling, pre-registration, insurance verification, financial clearance, and registration for outpatient and inpatient services.
This leader seeks to implement emerging best practice strategies to increase front-end efficiency and fortify the patient experience. To achieve these goals, this individual works closely with leadership to set goals, priorities, and performance standards. By collaborating with other operational areas and ensuring accurate and timely input of patient demographic and insurance information, this position supports a cohesive and efficient revenue cycle. The Hospital Patient Access Manager demonstrates a consistent standard of excellence to which departmental work is expected to conform.
The Hospital Patient Access Manager reports to the Patient Financial Services Director and works closely with hospital Case Management, Scheduling, Utilization Review, Health Information Management, Patient Financial Services, Referral/Prior Authorization, Hospital/Clinic Operations, and clinical service departments to ensure effective patient access operations both inter- and intra-departmentally.
The ideal candidate for Hospital Manager of Patient Access should have their Associates or Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 5 years working in healthcare revenue cycle, and at least two years of leadership/management experience.
