The Senior Program Manager, Defense is responsible for leading and coordinating all efforts to deliver the highest level of service and customer support within the scope of the key defense programs and the related business portfolio. Doing so by ensuring strategic alignment, establishing, and communicating priorities and enabling timely execution of connected projects. The Senior Program Manager’s main objective is to foster customer intimacy while safeguarding the profitable growth and healthy sustainability of the specified programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the overall management of Defense key customer targets and related active programs.
  • Guides and supports the team with demand creation, technical support and all related functions connected to the growth and sustainment of the key Defense Accounts (with focus on LMCO and NGC).
  • Sets priorities for the field technical support group, including but not limited to: training, problem resolution, implementation of design changes, testing and validation as required.
  • Helps define and document new business proposals in terms of work scope, VOC translated to product or service requirements, timing, resource requirements, definition and alignment on responsibilities and budget requirements.
  • Manages customer liaison on projects, program status reviews, project budgets.
  • Responsible for management of customer change requests and related cost and pricing implications when applicable.
  • Ensures proactive communication with the customers regarding changes in lead time, material shortages or any risks that will disrupt continuity of supply or the timely execution of existing commitments.
  • Examines defense programs dashboards and score cards and shares findings through CRM tool (SalesForce).
  • Monitors customer demand and identifies potential drivers of change to forecast short- and long-term requirements.
  • Participates actively in the SIOP monthly cycle providing the latest program demand information by product segment to help plan inventory levels, future shipments, capital equipment and labor needs.
  • Works cross functionally with the internal team to find resolution if quality issues or unexpected service delays arise. Stays in close contact with the customer, updating on progress of resolution efforts.
  • Coordinates with Distribution Sales Manager to ensure global optimum levels of inventory and channel service excellence to support program requirements.
  • Travels to meet with target customers and defense program partners for business reviews and deploying continuous improvement plans.
  • Works with the strategic marketing and BEX teams for communicating program information, web site updates, communication initiatives, customer presentations, and social media activity as they relate to the targeted defense programs.
  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to manager.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, orderly and hazard-free work areas.
  • Understands and observes all safety guidelines and assures quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CB policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Defense industry background with knowledge of military aerospace market requirements is desirable.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent skills and experience.
  • Understanding of manufacturing planning, procurement, and contract negotiations.
  • Experience motivating and leading a cross functional team.
  • Experience dealing with customers, managing requirements, and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing technology, products, and applications as they relate to the Defense market sector.
  • Computer literate and used to working with Project Management tool and CRM system, ideally Salesforce.com.
  • Capable of analyzing demand and forecast data for performance measures and anticipation of market trends.
  • Competency of Microsoft Office (MS Project, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Experience of working with multiple business functions, commercial, technical, financial, organizational, and operational.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to communicate and document a project action plan with a clear critical path.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, project plans and business proposals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Skillful at listening to customers and documenting their expectations and requirements.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

• Manages the segment of the commercial team focused on the Defense market.
• Sets goals and objectives for the team in line with company strategy and initiatives.
• Monitors these set goals and objectives, identifies, and communicates progress to the rest of the organization.
