We're now hiring a Director of Advocacy and Communications at Collaborative to End Human Trafficking in Cleveland, OH!
Since its beginning in 2007, the Collaborative to End Human Trafficking has identified human trafficking as a prevalent, yet often unrecognized, issue in Northeast Ohio. It was in response to the need for awareness and advocacy that the organization has brought together local professionals and members of religious female communities to create a community-wide call to action, seeking a systemic, multi-disciplinary response to human trafficking in this region. Today, this ever-growing collaboration includes diverse communities, businesses, non-profits, and governmental organizations.
We are excited to add a Full-time Director of Advocacy and Communications to join our team! The Collaborative to End Human Trafficking is seeking a visionary leader to fill the role of Director of Advocacy & Communications. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director plays a crucial role in shaping our external relations strategies and fostering a culture of impactful communication and policy advocacy.

Pay: $70k-78k a year depending on experience

Schedule: 9-5 (we offer a flexible schedule, some evening and weekends required); hybrid
Typical day in the life as a Director of Advocacy and Communications :
  • Provide visionary, adaptive leadership, always modeling the Collaborative's guiding values and fostering a culture that reflects them.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership to develop communications and public relations strategies that will enhance the organizations credibility & influence, so the community unites to effectively respond to human trafficking.
  • Proactively assess and maintain an acute understanding of current implementation challenges within the anti-trafficking landscape, leveraging insights to develop innovative and comprehensive solutions that drive measurable impact.
  • Lead the identification and prioritization of advocacy initiatives, strategically aligning them with the Collaborative's overarching goals and effectively coordinating supporting activities across partner organizations to maximize collective impact.
  • Conduct tracking and analysis of policies impacting human trafficking survivors and coalition constituents, synthesizing findings into actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Provide expert counsel on the Collaborative's stance and advocacy priorities, crafting persuasive content for internal and external audiences that resonates with our mission, values, and common agenda.
  • Exercise adept logistical coordination in preparing for meetings, managing briefing documents, developing key messages, and talking points, and conducting diligent follow-up to ensure the effective dissemination of critical information.
  • Lead and execute the Collaborative's comprehensive communication plan, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the organization's website, including regular updates, content creation, and maintenance to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic social media and paid media strategy to engage and expand the organization's online community, including content creation, scheduling, and analysis of metrics to measure impact and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate the creation and distribution of regular newsletters to internal and external stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, upcoming events, and relevant news in the field of human trafficking.
  • Collaborate with internal team and external partners to develop compelling content across various mediums, including articles, reports, videos, infographics, and social media posts, to educate the public and stakeholders about human trafficking issues.
  • Ensure all communication materials are accurate, consistent, and aligned with the organization's branding and messaging guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain crisis communication plans to address potential challenges or crises related to the organization's work, including media inquiries and public statements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and interviews, representing the Collaborative with professionalism and integrity.
What are we looking for?
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience of working in the field of Communications and Public Affairs.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such or a related discipline. A master's degree is preferred but not required.
  • Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to inspire and mobilize diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, and virtual meeting software.
