Our Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides nursing care to patients undergoing or recovering from anesthesia. Our nursing caregivers care for patients who are undergoing various surgeries, including general, orthopedic, spine, lower and upper extremity, urology, podiatry and ophthalmology; and, procedures such as knee manipulations and ECT treatments.
Our unit collaborates with many other departments and units within Lutheran Hospital to provide world-class care for each patient. Nursing caregivers within our PACU are skilled in several subspecialty practice areas and – as a very diverse unit – a variety of practice environments and skill sets are represented. As a RegisteredNurse,you will become familiar with complex medical histories, innovative surgical procedures, pain modalities, and comprehensive nutritional support. The future caregiver is someone who:
• Communicates effectively with patients and team members.
•Is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Can critically think and problem solve for patients’ best interests.
• Can provide emotional, spiritual, and psychological support to patients.
