This is an opportunity in the office of Sponsored Programs Accounting (SPA). SPA supports the research enterprise at the Cleveland Clinic. SPA is responsible for the accounting of sponsored activity which includes, administering financial reporting, billing and revenue management, project receivable management, and project to general ledger reconciliations. SPA also ensures the integrity of project compliance through the participation and management of various internal and external audit engagements. In addition, they maintain relationships with various sponsoring agencies and CCF personnel to ensure sponsored programs financial data remains accurate and compliant. Prepares, analyzes and communicates key financial information and provides support to management and other staff members regarding financial reporting and other related issues.Reviews and reconciles Oracle system adjustments/issues relating to billing and revenue for sponsored projects, refunds, and general ledger account reconciliation items. Completes a variety of general ledger account reconciliations ensuring their accuracy and journalizing correcting entries as needed.Supports the management of project related accounts receivables through the preparation and posting of monthly cash payments, reconciliation and correction of misapplied payments, management of unidentified cash receipts and follow up with research sponsors and departments to assure accuracy of accounts receivable.Provides financial assistance to various internal and external research institutions providing superior customer support for all sponsored programs inquiries.Assists with the coordination and management of external audits, providing documentation, explanations, and various other requests to external auditors and management as needed. Supports the development and implementation of post award procedures and compliance programs. Completes special projects and duties including providing necessary research, analysis and subject resolution.At Cleveland Clinic, we know what matters most. Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, analyzes and communicates key financial information.
  • Provides support to management and other staff members regarding financial reporting and related issues.
  • Assists with budget preparation, budget review for compliance and financial planning.
  • Consults with all levels of management to provide decision support for initiatives, policies and procedures.
  • Performs special projects and duties related to research, forecasting and conflict resolution as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assistance with license compliance, accounts receivable, budgets, monthly close and standard or ad hoc reporting to support the needs of the organization.
  • May include responsibility for standard general ledger reconciliations, expense analysis and developing internal controls.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Certifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Account (CMA) certification preferred.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience (Financial Analyst I):

  • One year of Accounting, Finance, Healthcare, Investment Banking or Management Consulting experience preferred.
  • Offset: High School diploma/GED and four years of experience.
  • Offset: Associate’s degree and two years of experience.

Work Experience (Financial Analyst II)

  • Minimum two years financial or revenue cycle management or general analytical experience.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Offset: High School diploma/GED and six years of experience.
  • Offset: Associate’s degree and four years of experience.
  • Offset: Master’s degree and one year of experience.
  • Offset: Cleveland Clinic Finance Fellow experience may offset one year of required experience.

Work Experience (Financial Analyst III):

  • Minimum of 3 years financial or revenue cycle management or general analytical experience required.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Offset: Master's degree and 2 years of related experience.
  • Offset: Cleveland Clinic Finance Fellow experience may offset 1 year of required experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include a high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a PC, normal or corrected vision, extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $27.65

Maximum hourly: $42.17

A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education.
