Position Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Stepdown/PCU/Tele
Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Stepdown/PCU/Tele unit. As an integral member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality care to patients transitioning from critical care to a lower acuity level. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor and manage patients' conditions closely, utilizing your expertise in stepdown, progressive care unit (PCU), and telemetry nursing.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Monitoring: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and other relevant parameters. Utilize telemetry equipment to monitor cardiac rhythms continuously. Recognize and respond promptly to any changes in patients' status.
Medication Administration: Administer medications and intravenous therapies as prescribed by physicians. Ensure accurate dosing and monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects.
Collaborative Care: Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients. Communicate effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other team members to coordinate care and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Patient Education: Provide comprehensive education to patients and their families regarding their conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions. Empower patients to actively participate in their care and make informed decisions about their health.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment in electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes and safety within the Stepdown/PCU/Tele unit. Identify areas for improvement and contribute to the development of best practices.
Qualifications:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or any compact state.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Minimum 1.5 years of experience in stepdown, PCU, or telemetry nursing.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
Proficiency in interpreting cardiac rhythms and telemetry monitoring.
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
