KENNEL RECEPTIONIST (PART TIME)

Kennel Receptionist (Part-Time)
Board of County Commissioners - Kennel
Type: Part-Time Permanent (Classified)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Probationary Period: 120 Days
Salary: $13.39 - $15.91/hour
Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

Are you an animal lover? Do you want to work alongside a team that s your passion? If so, Clermont County is seeking a Kennel Receptionist for the Clermont County Animal Shelter.
The Clermont County Kennel provides cares for stray, neglected and abused dogs by providing shelter, food and exercise, coordinating access to medical care and, ultimately, providing an opportunity to find a loving, permanent home.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a high school education or GED equivalent. Experience in working with dogs and/or working in an animal shelter environment highly preferred. Must be able to type accurately. Optimum typing speed is 50 wpm. Must have experience in Windows based personal computer environment. Must be proficient in the use of MS Windows, word processing and spreadsheet computer software. Must be proficient at capturing information in various formats as provided e.g., orally, written, typed, recorded and electronically supplied. Must be able to calculate decimals, fractions, and percentages. Must be familiar with office practices and procedures. Must possess above average communication skills. Duties are performed seated, standing, or walking at will. Ability to assist in keeping the kennels clean and the dogs' enclosures sanitary as needed. Ability to assist in feeding and exercising the dogs as needed. Ability to walk, run, jump, crawl, climb, and stoop on uneven surfaces is required.

JOB DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the Chief Dog Warden,
  • Responsible for reception of the office.
  • Greets, assist and directs all incoming visitors.
  • Receives, processes and routes incoming telephone calls, mail, correspondence, as well as, other material as needed.
  • Retrieves files, researches database and other sources of information and responds to requests for documents and other information as required.
  • Assists the Chief Dog Warden and Deputy Dog Warden(s) in working with organizations and the general public to foster and adopt dogs to minimize euthanasia.
  • Maintains current office operating records including monthly dog statistics.
  • Schedules maintenance of office equipment and coordinates the use of and maintenance of county vehicles.
  • Completes all reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Receives messages, provides general information and transmit messages to appropriate personnel.
  • Performs clerical functions and operates office equipment as needed.
  • Processes financial pay-ins per County Policies including receipt of cash, check and credit cards.
  • Reviews and processes invoices for payment after completion of services.
  • Assists with ensuring the dog kennel facility is clean and dogs under the control of the Warden are properly fed, exercised and maintained. Assists with volunteer coordination.
  • Works alone or with other persons in short or long-term special assignments/projects to resolve problems or conflicts in any area of county operations or to complete assigned projects.
  • Participates in cross-training and maintains proficiency in areas of cross-training as necessary.
  • Reports safety/risk management issues to immediate Supervisor.
  • New and other related duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirements stated above. Military education and experience may be substituted for college and vocational certificate level course work on a case-by-case basis based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide recommendations. For consideration please include a military transcript and/or Form DD214 with your application. Conditions and procedures for selection will be consistent with Clermont County Personnel Policy and/or Collective Bargaining Agreements, if applicable. Also, certain classifications, because of the nature of the work, require pre-placement and/or periodic physical examinations which may include drug/alcohol screening tests.
