Clearwater Paper is Hiring a Service Crew - Summer Student Near Arkansas, AR

Where you will workThe Cypress Bend facility is located in the historic Mississippi River Delta and produces bleached paperboard and bleached Kraft pulp, used in the production of folding cartons, commercial print paperboard, carded packaging, and cupstock. Cypress Bend is a rural community with close access to the Mississippi River. What you will doThe Summer Student position is a seasonal position at the Cypress Bend location for summer only. This position is responsible for providing coverage for our regular workforce during the summer vacation period. Duties may include general housekeeping, special projects and filling department utility vacancies ensuring efficient operations. 

  • Assist with preparing and transporting product at different stages and areas of the site
  • Act as a relief for Department Utility Operators, providing coverage during vacation and time off
  • Perform minor maintenance activities which may include painting and landscaping
  • Maintain a clean working environment by complying with procedures and housekeeping responsibilities
  • Pick up debris from work area, sweep, and use high pressure hoses to clean around heavy equipment
  • Attend all required training provided by the Company
  • Hold self and others to high level of safety standards, ensuring workplace safety policies are upheld and safety rules are followed (lockout/tagout procedures, appropriate PPE)
  • Participate as needed in safety incidents and help investigate root cause
  • Operate, maintain, and inspect equipment to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, procedural reporting, and documentation requirements

What you will needTo be successful in this position, we are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at or prior to their start date
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required)
  • Be continuously enrolled and provide proof of full-time student status at an accredited college or post-high school institution prior to start date and have maintained a 2.5 or higher GPA.
  • If currently a college student, you must show proof of full-time student status in the spring quarter as well as full time enrollment in the fall quarter of 2023.
  • Be an undergraduate student.
  • Commit to a minimum of 10 weeks of continuous employment, starting June 5, 2023 through August 18, 2023.
  • If offered, a final transcript is required to be turned in before the start date or you will not be considered for summer hire.
  • Able to work in an industrial environment around heat, dust and noise.
  • Understand and comply with all manufacturing safety procedures including personal protective equipment (required)
  • Able to work in a physically demanding environment including temperature extremes, loud noise, avoiding slipping, tripping, and falling hazards
  • Physically capable of manual labor that includes bending, walking, sitting, and climbing in and around machinery and equipment for entire 8-hour shift
  • Able to lift, up to 40 lbs frequently, between 40 and 50 lbs occasionally, over 50 lbs minimally. When lifting 50 lbs and above, Operator will use team lifting and overhead crane assistance.
  • Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid.
  • Able to work 8-hour shifts including weekends, and holidays. Able to work overtime as needed.
