Where you will work:The Augusta mill sits along the Savannah River, on the state border between Georgia and South Carolina and manufactures light, medium, and heavyweight coated paperboard. It is a well-invested SBS paperboard manufacturing facility with approximately 600 thousand tons of capacity. This facility boasts over 700 employees and has been in operation for almost 65 years. Located on 3,000 acres, the Augusta site operates two paper machines that produce 1,940 tons per day. The Augusta Mill is Clearwater Paper’s largest paperboard facility and is critical to the success of our strategy and future.

What you will do:The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

• Ensures that proper safety practices are followed.
• Direct responsibility for hourly Mechanical Maintenance personnel.
• Coordinates with Maintenance Planners to ensure that all preventive maintenance activities are scheduled and completed.
• Initiates work orders and actions to correct unsafe conditions.
• Attends daily maintenance planning and coordination meetings to help prioritize scheduled work and efficiently handle “break-in” work as necessary.
• Provides technical assistance and creative thinking during planning and coordination meetings to deliver the most cost-effective solutions to mechanical and instrumentation issues.
• Prioritizes work to be performed by the General Mechanics; consulting with Reliability/Planning Engineers on work to be contracted to outside services.
• Works with reliability group to ensure that downtime preventive maintenance programs or permanent mechanical equipment modifications are put in place to address the “root cause(s)” of downtime and quality issues.
• Schedules work assignments, vacations, and address other personnel issues for the Utilities Department maintenance personnel.
• Assists in development and execution of the “outage” planning strategy.
• Collaborates with operators to understand operational issues as well as process and equipment opportunities.
• Mentor and coach operations/maintenance personnel on the technical fundamentals as appropriate.
• Drives to improve Maintenance Key Performances Indicators (KPIs)

What you will need:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
• 3 – 5 year’s maintenance experience in a paper mill preferred
• Demonstrated experience with reliability centered maintenance.
• Supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Skilled in utilization of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably SAP.
• Multi-tasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines on a continuous basis.
• Skilled in Microsoft Project, Excel and Word.
• Ability to estimate man-hours and costs for maintenance work.
• Strong leader and team player and communicator.
• Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
• Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
• Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
• Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
• Use of ladders and stairs in the mill environment.
• Personal Protective Equipment required in mill environment.
• Exposure to airborne particles and times of increased heat and humidity.
• High speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high frequency noises

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience among other factors.
