Location: Syracuse, NY

Salary Range: $85-120k/yr

Job Summary: Has primary responsibility for overseeing the financial reporting, treasury and cash management, and management of accounting team. Maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. Reports to the CFO.

Essential Functions:

• Liaison to Banks, Bonding Agents, Auditors, Insurance Agents reviewing financial information for all entities
• Reviews General Ledger detail to ensure proper posting of expense and revenue entries from AP, AR, JC and PR applications. Makes any adjustments.
• Prepares monthly accounting entries for prepaids, depreciation and amortization, Vacation and Sick Time accruals, Utility accruals, LT/ST debt, Interest Income and Expense
• Maintains fixed assets records and assigns useful lives and proper methods for book, tax and AMT.
• Monitors insurance accruals for workers comp and general liability insurance - makes any adjustments.
• Reconciles bank accounts making entries for transfers, electronic payments, bank fees, credit card transactions, debt payments
• Reconciles AR, AP and JC month end details to the general ledger. Investigates differences and adjusts.
• Prepares monthly indirect cost entries to projects. Reviewing over/under absorbed OH calculation and adjusts.
• Prepares intercompany charges and reconciles intercompany accounts. Prepares monthly over/under billing spreadsheets. Makes adjusting entries.
• Prepares combined financial statements on a quarterly basis for distribution to internal and external users. Determines proper intercompany eliminations for proper presentation.
• Prepares audit schedules and gathers documents for annual audit. Works closely with auditors during their visits in compiling information and answering questions.
• Prepares schedules and reports required for preparation of annual tax filings. Coordinates filing of all returns by respective deadlines.
• Reviews and approves AP invoices for insurance, utilities, cell phones, fuel cards and other expenses.
• Assists in the development of annual budgets, inputs budgets in to accounting software and prepares reports to compare budget vs. actual results.
• Answers questions from operations staff regarding financial issues.
• Stays current on financial topics affecting the companies - attends conferences and education classes

Qualifications:

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field with 10 years of experience
• Preferred experience in the architecture/engineering/construction industry or auditing
• Experience managing teams
• Experience with accounting software
• Experience in managing payroll, with focus on streamlining accounting processes
