JOB DESCRIPTION

Scope: Under the direction of the Manager, assists in managing the day-to-day operations of the Imaging service line(s) utilizing quality, cost effective patient care principles. Be a resource to and educate the physicians, staff, students, and other customers who utilize radiology services.

Function: Supervises, supports and develops staff. This may include supervision of duties directly involving a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation or other forms of energy. This also involves supervising and evaluating the needs of the technologists and ancillary personnel assigned within specific areas of the department. In conjunction with the Imaging Manager, coordinates the hiring of staff, scheduling of personnel, and repair of equipment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’sDegree
  • 3 years experience in relateddepartment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of supervisoryexperience.
  • CT experience.

    • American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographers(ARDMS)
    • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board(NMTCB)
  • IfholdingaregistrationthroughARRTorNMTCBmust alsoholdaTexasMedicalBoardlicense as a Medical RadiologicTechnologist
  • American Heart Association BLSCertification

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborates with Radiology Medical Director to coordinate daily operations by directing staff and resourcestooptimizepatientcareandefficiency.Toincludemonitoringdailyscheduleandadjusting staffing patternsaccordingly.
  • With input and support from the Manager, responsible for effective hiring, orientation, training, mentoring and coaching of staff, to ensure a well-trained, high performing team. Provide ongoing recognition, feedback and development, holding staff accountable for meeting expected goals and behaviors. Provide input for a staffing plan that meets both customer expectations and financial constraints.
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities; be open and objective to other’s views; give and welcomefeedback;contributetopositiveteamgoals;andputthesuccessoftheteamaboveown interests.
  • Coaches staff to assure a quality, customer-service oriented team is present. Investigates complaints and errors, safety issues, and “near misses”. Handles staff performance-related issues in collaboration with Manager and accordance with Human Resource policies andprocedures.
  • Responsible for procurement, storage, and routing of supplies. Works closely with institution departments responsible for procurement and vendor representatives to optimize competitive pricing and resourceful supplymaintenance.
  • Practice reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DNV, JC and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. Disseminates and ensures compliance with department andinstitutional policies, procedures andregulations.
  • Responsible for effective and timely staff communications to ensure all are apprised of information and changes in a timely manner. Plans, prepares and conducts regularstaff meetings and participates in huddles and other communicationstrategies.
  • Displays creativity and innovation when making recommendations for improvement in the delivery of services to the hospital. Provides input to the development of business/strategic plans, leads projects, teams and participates in hospital workgroups/ PI teams andcommittees.
  • Gathers data and participates in the department’s quality assurance and improvement planto achieve a defined level of quality and appropriateness of patient care services.
  • Maintains knowledge of, observes, and enforces the safety measures in Environment of Care and RadiationSafety.
  • Ensures the quality of the digital processing and imaging equipment. Monitors the status of equipmentrepairsandpreventativemaintenance,gathersdataonequipmentmalfunctionand associated down time, and documents the effects on patient care asrequired.
  • Demonstratesproficientknowledgeandskillsspecifictoinformationsystemsutilizedinpatient care.
  • Assistsindevelopingannualbudgetandtakesappropriateactionwhenappropriatetomaintain control of department financial resources. Complete monthly reconciliationreports as directed.
  • Performs procedures as needed in the discipline for which they supervise and certified under.. Meets periodic UTMB and unit specific compliance requirements for health screening, training, attendance, safety, BLS andACLS.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reportingstructure.
