FINISH CARPENTER JOURNEYMAN

Function: Clear Construction’s Millwork department is looking for a reliable, hardworking Finish Carpenter Journeyman to assist in completing the finishing touches on trim and carpentry work for different construction and manufacturing projects. You may work on various projects, including cabinet making, framing, decking, window and stair customizations, crown molding, and baseboard installations. Our ideal candidate has an aptitude for precision and can accommodate unique build requirements from clients. We prefer candidates with prior experience or training in trim carpentry or finish carpentry but are willing to train a motivated individual who works hard and learns quickly.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

GENERAL

  • Measure, cut, and install various fixtures and millwork for doors, windows, ceiling panels, staircases, decking, furniture, etc.
  • Erect scaffolding or ladders as needed
  • Collaborate with other carpenters, journeymen, and supervisors to complete projects
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues with building components and equipment
  • Follow established regulations and advocate for safety on each worksite
  • Installing wooden structures such as roofing frames, rafters, partitions, joists, and stud work
  • Install base, crown, trim, jambs, casing, wainscot, paneling, chair rail, assist with coffered ceilings, may need some guidance with special hardware, build cabinets, install cabinetry, install interior and exterior doors with some guidance, install windows with some guidance.
  • Be able to communicate to apprentices the tasks for that day while also teaching them the proper techniques for that task.
  • Expected to handle any task given to them by the manager, foreman, or lead and retain the training being provided.
  • Expected to do some shop work and learn some cabinet-building techniques.
  • Must have willingness to be trained in the processes of shop work to fabricate the projects for the Finish Carpentry Division.
  • Tools: A journeyman should have all hand tools, drills, jigsaw, levels, and grinder for scribing. Not expected to have a chop saw, laser level, hand plane, table saw, portable plane, any festools.


Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and ability required. Reasonable accommodations may enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Desirable Experience and Training Graduation from an accredited high school or vocational school. Experience as a journeyman carpenter or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in this work; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which, provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills may be considered.


OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Completion of a relevant finish carpentry training program or apprenticeship or at least four years of carpentry experience
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Blueprint reading familiarity
  • Able to use common hand tools and power tools
  • PPE and carpentry trade tools
  • Troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Physical stamina for lifting equipment and working at various heights and in tight spaces


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

In addition to the above duties, a Finish Carpenter Journeyman should have good communication skills, be able to work well under pressure with guidance, and have problem-solving skills. They should also be able to work direction or as part of a team, and be able to adapt to changing work conditions and schedules. A high degree of attention to detail and a commitment to quality are also essential for success in this role. Ability to complete deliverables and meet deadlines and use Procore software.


Travel Time Required

10-15% (this is an estimated amount)


COMPENSATION

$28.00 to $34.00 per hour DOE. This person will be given goals to meet in order to attain a higher hourly rate.
