Clean Water Services is Hiring an Associate Engineer - Water Resource Near Hillsboro, OR
The Conveyance Engineering department is seeking an Associate Engineer. This position performs a variety of engineering-related duties requiring knowledge in engineering planning, design and construction, in wastewater treatment and conveyance infrastructure under the direction of a Professional Engineer. Note:This position will remain open until filled. First review of applications will begin on Monday, April 22, 2024. Clean Water Services (CWS) may augment duties and/or essential functions at its discretion. Additionally, some incumbents may not perform all Essential Functions.)
Supports engineering design projects through the preparation and review of engineering plans and drawings, process diagrams, and standard details and specifications. Coordinates with staff in the preparation of drawings, and inspects and evaluates existing conditions.
Conducts system modeling and provides data entry and analysis.
Compiles, prepares and maintains technical communications, project records, documents, reports and databases.
Prepares engineering designs using applicable engineering calculations. Reviews engineering plans and ensures code compliance.
Provides engineering services to project managers during construction including field inspections, submittal reviews and responding to requests for information.
Supports Engineers with presentations of technical data and results to technical review committees, CWS staff and others. Remains current on technology in civil, process mechanical, and environmental engineering relevant and wastewater treatment and conveyance.
Regularly engages with technical staff to understand plant operations and equipment; routinely visits all CWS facilities including advanced wastewater treatment, conveyance, and pumping stations.
Serves as liaison to consultants, contractors, and vendors and provides support as needed.
Drives a CWS or personal vehicle for work related purposes.

Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes, and regulations

Assisting in preparing, reviewing, and evaluating engineering studies and designs
Analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions
Reading and understanding technical documentation, including administrative reports and access databases
Interpreting and applying pertinent Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations
Use of computers and computer software to conduct research, produce documentation, spreadsheets, and presentations
ABILITY TO:
Plan and organize assigned work to meet deadlines
Learn how to understand and interpret specifications, maps, plans, and reports pertaining to complex design and construction projects
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including a variety of CWS and other government officials, contractors, community groups, and the general public
Operate effectively in a team environment, communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the KSAs would be:
6 months of internships or project work in civil or environmental engineering or related field.
Bachelor's Degree from a nationally accredited institution in civil, chemical, environmental engineering including coursework in physical, chemical and biological processes or related field.
Master’s Degree is highly desirable. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
