The Wastewater Supervisor will be responsible and accountable for day to day Wastewater operations in their Branch, providing leadership and direction to staff in line with Clean Harbor's policies and strategy.
- Complete or ensure completion of periodic field inspections to monitor that repairs, installations and equipment are kept up to Clean Harbors standards in addition to ensuring quality control and verifying that established procedures are being followed (ie. Use of PPE, proper sampling procedure, customer relations).
- Conduct bi-weekly and/or monthly truck inspections (for proper inventory, organization, general tidiness and cleanliness) in addition to overseeing the tracking, scheduling and completion of equipment maintenance.
- Purchase and maintain branch inventory as it pertains to Wastewater equipment – parts, supplies, etc. in addition to managing the Inventory Standards and Practices to ensure the proper maintenance and monitoring of all product line stock.
- Liaise with customers, camp staff, company personnel, and contact customers on a regular basis (by phone if in the field) to allow discussion regarding problems or concerns, to ensure a consistently high level of service is being provided.
- Ensure all new staff complete the required orientation and safety courses (company policies and procedures, IRP – 16 standard, H2S Alive, TDG, WHMIS, etc), in addition to receiving all appropriate technical training in a timely manner (the supervisor may train new employees personally, or may designate one or more senior technicians to provide training, or a combination of both).
- Ensure all appropriate operating permits are completed and/or secured in a timely fashion by fostering a professional and personable working relationship with the appropriate regulating authority.
- Complete daily yard inspection to account for all incoming and outgoing equipment and complete periodic inspections of rig ups and other services and provide guidance to staff when necessary.
- Manage all paperwork and record keeping related to Peak Wastewater Treatment Systems and related equipment and ensure equipment status on DIR is up to date and communicate with the Management team to ensure maximum utilization of assets.
- Monitor, confirm and sign off on all timesheets and provide to the Branch Manager for further sign off.
- Inform Product Line Manager when an asset requires an Asset Retirement Request (ARR) as it is no longer generating revenue and is deemed unusable.
- Monitor employee, equipment and other Wastewater related expenses on a monthly basis to ensure expenditures are within budget.
- Assist in the organization, scheduling and facilitation of regular operational and safety meetings and ensure the retention of all meeting minutes and compliance with discussed go-forward actions.
- Monitor competitor activity and potential acquisitions and report findings to Branch Manager, Product Line Manager or other available member of the Management Team.
- Dispatch appropriately trained field service employees to perform appropriate field tasks and service requests to optimize field performance and scheduling.
- Participate in the compilation of the branch on-call schedule.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.
- 3 years previous experience operating Wastewater Treatment Systems coupled with a minimum of two 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong technical writing skills and knowledge.
- Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
