Job Summary

Clayton State University is accepting applications for part-time instructors for the upcoming academic year to teach First-Year Writing (ENGL 1101 and 1102).

The successful part-time candidate will teach up to 2 sections per semester of Eng. 0999, 1101, and/or 1102 courses at one or more of the following locations:

  • Main Campus, Morrow, GA
  • Henry County Campus, McDonough, GA
  • Fayette Campus, Peachtree City, GA
  • Starr’s Mill High School, Fayetteville, GA
  • Whitewater High School, Fayetteville, GA
  • Hapeville Charter Academy, College Park, GA
  • Creekside High School, Fairburn, GA
  • Lovejoy High School, Hampton, GA
  • Charles Drew High School, Riverdale, GA
  • Forest Park High School, Forest Park, GA
  • Rockdale Career Academy, Conyers, GA

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to two sections per semester of Eng. 0999, 1101, and/or 1102 courses
  • Use D2L for coursework and grades
  • Be available for office hours and student consultation
  • Complete administrative teaching tasks on time.

Required Qualifications

  • An earned M.A. or higher in English
  • Coursework or training in rhetoric and composition
  • Microsoft Word proficiency
  • Technological literacy and a commitment to integrating technology into teaching and learning
  • Successful experience teaching First-Year Writing
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commitment to teaching first-generation college students
  • Experience teaching dual enrollment students
  • Familiarity with electronic portfolio assessment
  • Expertise in online teaching
  • Experience or training in learning support, developmental English.
