Clayton County Public Schools is Hiring a School Psychologist Near Jonesboro, GA

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides comprehensive psychological assessment, consultation, and support (psychoeducational evaluations, academic and behavioral/emotional consultation, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, etc.) services to meet the needs of students through goals, objectives, and related student competencies. Possess skills related to problem solving, planning, supervising, organizing and scheduling. Ability to handle highly sensitive personnel matters in a timely and professional manner. This position reports to the Lead School Psychologist.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts individual evaluations (intellectual functioning, processing, academic achievement, and behavioral/emotional problems) to identify appropriate strategies for performance related issues; coordinates state and local standardized testing of students. Collects data and prepares reports as required by local, state, and federal agencies. Conducts appropriate referrals and liaise with school personnel, parents, and agencies as needed. Participates as a member/consultant in the Student Support Team, 504, and Individual Education Plan process in order to assist in determining and implementing educational and behavioral goals and objectives, learning styles, personal/social behaviors for students who are at-risk and/or with special needs. Provides direct services to students to support academic and behavioral goals. Provides overall leadership and oversight to teachers, principals and specialists and others as needed in planning and utilizing courses of study in the development of improved program and curricula. Serves on professional, school and/or District committees for the purpose of developing and expanding educational and psychological services. All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS: Specialist degree in school psychology from an accredited university is preferred. Master’s degree requirements must be met. Some professional school psychology experience in a K-12 educational setting and prior experience providing psychological assessment and counseling to students in a public school setting required. Makes decisions and recommendations which routinely affect the activities of others. S-6 Certificate from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission in School Psychology is required. Valid driver’s license. Moderate & analytical level of judgment required; must evaluate student evaluations and approve general recommendations. Supervisor is available to review departmental recommendations. Requires regular, frequent contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance; requires continuing contact with community resources and social services agencies. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with inter-organizational teams.Requires excellent analytical, written, verbal and presentation skills. Applies, recommends and implements technology concepts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of District. Normal office setting. Requires travel to off-site locations and school site visits. Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying; twenty (20) lbs. or less.

Pay: $68,484.00 - $84,241.00 per year
