Clayens is Hiring a 2nd Shift: Quality Auditor I Near Seneca, SC

Job Summary:

Perform inspections of injection molded and machined products for defects and deviations from specifications. Responsible for auditing materials/components received using GD&T, SPC and general use of measuring equipment and software. Oversees new product qualification (PPAP), interfaces with production workers, and maintains communication with Quality Manager. Adheres to all plant and OSHA safety policies and regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and properly dispositions products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications.
  • Analyzes and interprets drawings, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
  • Notifies Supervisors, Team Lead or Quality Manager of production problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these problems.
  • Discusses inspection results with those responsible for products
  • Records inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, or moisture content, and quantities inspected or graded.
  • Marks items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status.
  • Observes and monitors production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and make or order necessary process or assembly adjustments.
  • Measures dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers or micrometers.
  • Performs Incoming/Receiving Inspections and Final Inspections, as assigned.
  • Responsible for entering scrap data by machine for each shift.
  • Performs duties with little or no supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Can successfully identify and properly disposition products, materials and equipment not meeting specifications within the 90 days of being placed in role.
  • Ability to read blueprints, sketches, specifications and technical materials.
  • Ability to work effectively with coworkers in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical concepts, process variation, process capability and over-adjustment.
  • Successful completion of "Fundamentals of Injection Molding" Paulson Training.
  • Ability to use hand held measuring devices.
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication
  • Basic understanding and usage of Microsoft Office Software (Work, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to read and write English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • 6 Months experience in Operator II or III role, or prior external experience.
  • Knowledge of production processes
  • Experience with ISO or AS requirements as required.
  • Experience using the following tools: Go/No Go Gauges, Calipers, Digital Micrometers, DCC CMM, Optical Comparators, Toolmakers Microscope, Micro-Vu Vision System, etc.
  • Experience using the following technology: Spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel), Database Software, SPC Software, Vision Inspection Systems, and Label Making Software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand entire shift (8 hrs.).
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Requires manual dexterity.
  • Moderate physical demand involving lifting and moving of materials and equipment.
