Lab Specimen Collection

• Obtains specimens from patients using appropriate specimen collection and handling procedures.
• Prepares specimens by labeling, handling, processing, transportation and proper storage
• Awareness of factors that influence test results

Specimen Processing

• Performs specific laboratory tests following the policy
• Follows all laboratory standard procedures
• Performs and documents quality control required prior to reporting patient results
• Operates laboratory equipment. Performs and documents instrument maintenance
• Maintains proper laboratory records
• Participates in proficiency testing
• Performs other duties as directed by supervisor or designee
• Cooperates with other health professionals with effective communication to maintain good working relationships throughout the facility.
• Able to easily understand complex instructions
• Able and willing to maintain strict level of confidentiality regarding laboratory results and records
• Follow all facility, laboratory and safety policies

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Work may occasionally require travel to local skill care facilities. Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
