CLARK'S CUTTING EDGE, INC is Hiring an Irrigation Technician Near Remington, IN

Job Summary

The Landscape and Irrigation Technician installs, tests, maintains, and repairs new and existing irrigation systems. This includes mapping out systems, digging trenches, and working with computerized systems, controllers, and back flow devices. The technician also performs a variety of other tasks including installing water features, hardscapes, and landscape materials such as mulch, rock, and plants. Technicians assist with maintaining grounds of properties using hand or power tools and equipment using proper PPE. While not the primary job description, a Landscape and Irrigation Technician may also mow, trim, and edge lawns, apply fertilizer, insecticide, herbicide, and pesticide to lawns, trees, and plants. During snow removal season, all technicians shovel, plow snow, and spreads salt.

General Accountabilities

  • Installs, tests, operates, maintains, and repairs new and existing irrigation systems.
  • Sets and maintains automatic irrigation systems.
  • Operates manual & computerized irrigation systems, controllers, and back flow devices.
  • Maps out and prepares grounds for new irrigation installs.
  • Installs piping, pumps, manual and electric timers.
  • Run a compressor to winterize irrigation systems
  • Removes and installs landscape materials such as fabric, mulch, rock, and sod.
  • Maintains grounds by clearing away debris, mowing, weeding, planting, pruning, and trimming trees, shrubs, flowers, hedges, and other plants.
  • Assists with installing hardscapes and water features.
  • Operates heavy equipment and machinery, such as skid steers, tractors, mowers, wheel loaders, trenchers, and sod cutter.
  • Uses a variety of both handheld, power tools and equipment.
  • Shovels and plows snow and spreads salt with machine and by hand.
  • Maintains equipment which may include repairs and routine maintenance as needed.
  • Reports any maintenance concerns or unsafe conditions or repairs to supervisor.
  • Adheres to company, state, and federal safety guidelines at all times.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Job Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proven work experience as an Irrigation Technician or similar position.
  • Working knowledge of irrigation and electrical timer systems.
  • Ability to pass drug screen upon job offer.
  • Successfully complete employment background check upon job offer.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.

Work Environment

  • Outdoor: daily exposure to various weather conditions, including but not limited to very hot or cold temperatures, humidity, rain, sleet, snow, ice, and wind.
  • Exposure to and possibly handling of chemicals including fertilizer, insecticides, herbicides, and pesticides.
  • Exposure to various plants and landscape materials, dust, common outdoor allergens, and moderate noises.
  • Use of safety gear such as eye and hearing protection, safety vests, gloves, and hard hats.
  • Frequent changes to work schedule with limited notice is to be expected.
  • Early AM and Late PM hours during snow removal and “busy” season.
  • Possibility of working weekends and holidays during snow removal and “busy” season.

Physical Demands

  • Be able to lift overhead and carry 50 pounds.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs, and full body movement such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking and stooping.
  • Safely bend, stoop, pull, push, squat and stand for long periods of time.
  • Be able to work outdoors up to 10 hours per day in various weather conditions.

Salary: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
