CLARK Material Handling Company is Hiring an Intern MFG Engineer Near Lexington, KY

As a Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will apply your knowledge and develop new skills while working on a variety of challenging projects. Will assist the Manufacturing facility with various tasks including process sheet documentation, time studies, standards creation, material planning & presentation. Position will require you to be mechanically inclined to work on forklifts which may include using hand tools and lift heavy objects. Our internship program is designed to provide students with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives that are consistent with your career goals and current level of education. Essential Functions: Collaborate with manufacturing team and production personnel on various manufacturing process improvementsConduct time studies of manufacturing processes and establish standards; May participate in the assembling of forklifts, forklift components and material handling equipment Includes but not limited to: assembly, modification,d paint, weld and shipping/receiving.Research / gather information, documentation, and data related to equipment and tooling, manufacturing processes, production layout, and business systems to support quality, efficiency and cost saving.Track labor, efficient manpower utilization and line balancing efficiency. tooling, fixtures, jigs, assembly stations, work benches, storage racks to improve safety, quality, and productivity.May test equipment to ensure that it is calibrated and functioning properly. Identify and correct quality issues that negatively affect production efficiency and customer satisfaction. Assist with issues related to facility layout and processing issues that negatively affect production schedule attainment or quality goals. Establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment that is compliant with all regulations. Emphasis on continuous improvement in direct labor process balance, flow of material, and efficient use of space and equipment. Ensure processes are revised to match engineering changes and employees are taught new methods and procedures, as well as securing any tooling required to implement the change. BASIC QUALIFICATIONSCurrent undergraduate student pursing a major in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate student who has completed their 2nd year strongly preferred GPA of 3.0 or above Effective in setting priorities and goals while supporting multiple projects. Must be available to work at least 40 hours a week during the summer Excellent communication skills both oral and written Basic understanding of technical principles, theories and techniques Knowledge and application of investigative research and analysis Ability to compile and organize technical data using Excel, Word, or Access Must be able to read blueprints, installations/process sheets, wiring diagrams.Good mechanical aptitude is a must with experience using various hand and air tools Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs of assembly components, with the ability to maneuver a lifting device for components over 50 pounds (i.e. tires, motors, pumps) up to 50 times per day. Must be able to torque up to 500 lbs of pressure using manual and or electric torque wrench required upper and extremity strength. Must be authorized to work in the US indefinitely Physical / Environmental Conditions: The incumbent is located in an office environment with regulated heating and cooling.The position requires using a personal computer and monitor, as well as basic office equipment.Position will also require incumbent to work in the manufacturing area where you may encounter loud noise, varying temperatures (including heat during summer and from the Operation of equipment.Various machinery and equipment may generate loud noise and Vibration.The incumbent may come into contact with oil, grease, paint, solvents and other potentially hazardous materials.The incumbent may also encounter dust, fumes, flying debris, and fast moving machinery, such as forklift trucks.
