We’re looking to add a Pharmacy Inventory Specialist to our growing team, on site at our closed-door Cheshire, CT pharmacy. This role will report to the Director of Pharmacy.

About the Role: The inventory specialist is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the inventory in a Long-Term Care Pharmacy setting. Inventory Specialists must have an understanding on how to use procedural methods to investigate inventory inaccuracy which cause backorders and out of stock medication. The goal is to have adequate and accurate inventory while reducing expired product.
Schedule: Alternating schedule: M-F and Sun-Thurs (9:30 – 6 pm)
Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate labels presented by pharmacy lead tech and supervising pharmacist
  • Provide ETA on backorders and manually ordered medication
  • Process expired medication through NPR
  • Assist receiver with shortages on packing slip and follow up with vendor and CC Purchaser on email
  • Review and enter GPI counts on spreadsheet and make status and inventory adjustments
  • Activate medications in formulary
  • Identify inventory inaccuracy which include scenarios below:
Over committed: May be result of low ROP which Inventory Specialist may change by reviewing monthly volume purchased on Surecost. (ROP generic = Half of monthly volume, ROP of brand = 1/3 of monthly volume)
Over received: Receiver may have received more product in formulary than physical inventory. Use transaction report to review purchases in Surecost against received into formulary.
Missing: Make sure all possible locations where medication can be stocked are checked. If not found, get all medication under GIP counted and reported on adjustment sheet.
Requirements
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel
  • Familiar with wholesale ordering systems/pharmacy dispensing systems (Frameworks, a plus)
  • Purchasing/inventory experience
  • Utilize reports to identify inventory discrepancies
  • Compile manual order and provide ETA
  • Use reports to investigate inventory discrepancies
  • Identify ETA of medication
  • Identify flaws and suggest solution on inventory management process
  • Coordinating physical inventory, purchasing/inventory reporting, maintaining FW drug database, working with corporate purchasing
