Claremore Christian School is an educational institution designed to partner with parents in shepherding and equipping their children who will engage their call with a biblical worldview. In agreement with this mission statement are what we see as the major purposes of academia: that the student would pursue an intimate relationship with Christ and use his/her ability to read, write, study, and reason out of a biblical worldview to create and build in the spheres of influence in which they have been called. POSITION TITLE Junior High/High School Teacher of Science
SUMMARYThe primary functions of this position are to teach students subject matter with a biblical worldview; and to pastor students in their spiritual journeys.
MINIMUM JOB DUTIES● Prepare weekly lesson plans with rigorous academic expectations● Heavily integrate Scripture and biblical worldview into all teaching● Communicate clear expectations and objectives● Establish rapport with students and provide climate conducive to learning● Provide interactive lectures and/or work days, ensuring that students understand the material● Assign, collect, grade, and return meaningful homework in a timely manner● Evaluate student learning through in-class interaction, homework, quizzes, and tests● Update Gradelink as soon as assignments are graded● Organize field trips, projects, experiments, and other supplemental learning activities● Communicate often with parents/guardians of students● Manage classroom, playground, cafeteria, etc. with authority● Appropriately discipline students when needed● Work duty schedule for drop-off, pick-up, lunch, etc.● Participate in weekly chapel service● Maintain neat and safe classroom environment● Evaluate prospective students for appropriate grade level determination, as needed● Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrative teammates● Participate in all required events and meetings● Engage in 35 hours of professional development annually● Present self in a manner befitting an ambassador of Christ at all times● Complete other duties as requested by Principal
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES● Gift of teaching● Knowledge of subject matter and biblical principles● Strong written and oral communication, time management, classroom management, and organizational skills● Ability to learn and use technology
QUALIFICATIONSRequired: Personal relationship with Jesus; and Bachelor’s degree from an accredited universityPreferred: Teaching certificate and/or experience
