Learn more.About the program:The Life Enrichment Education Program (LEEP) provides specially designed instruction and related services for eligible Clackamas County students ages 5-21 years. Students attend self-contained classrooms in schools located throughout the county. The curriculum focuses on personal management, communication, practical living skills, vocational skills, leisure and recreation activities, and social skills. Based on the individual needs of each student, the ESD offers speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, adaptive PE, and nursing support. LEEP also provides an extended school year program in the summer for students who would regress because of a lengthy educational recess.About this position:The LEEP Behavior Specialist works with a variety of stakeholders including students, their families, classroom teaching staff, related service professionals, administration, district partners and community partners to promote student access to high quality educational environments, curriculum and pedagogical strategies. The Specialist works to design and implement inclusive practices that increase student access to learning opportunities across environments including school, community and home, while using and implementing evidence-based behavior support and intervention strategies for students experiencing complex disabilities and challenging behavior. The Specialist provides professional development activities for staff and community and district partners in inclusive practices that include support for students with challenging behavior using knowledge and skills the Clackamas ESD has selected as its prevention and crisis response system.Essential functions:Planning and Preparation Informs the further development of program needs in collaboration with other related service members to create a highly skilled and comprehensive integrated model of service. Develops and maintains a system for the completion of Functional Behavior Assessments and Positive Behavior Support Plans. This includes training families and caregivers, staff, and community and district partners to ensure accurate data collection, data-driven decision making and program fidelity. Develops and maintains a differentiated system of Professional Development that includes positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) to assist families and caregivers, educators and community and district partners in order to meet the education and inclusion of students with complex disabilities and challenging behavior.Environment Works directly with students in the classroom providing services that include modeling, coaching, problem solving and responding to crisis management to ensure the safety of staff, students and building partners. Assists with the development of a Universal Design for Learning framework that embeds Assistive Technology (AT) in its structure.Service Delivery Develops and maintains a comprehensive Positive Behavior Support Program and Crisis Intervention Program that aligns with the CESD mission and vision and is consistent with Oregon Administrative Rules in collaboration with LEEP administration. Develops and maintains a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) that includes a triage system for timely and effective interventions to ensure student and staff safety. Develops and maintains a data system that informs the development of appropriate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that include data, data-driven decision making, measurable and achievable goals and the implementation of those goals.Professional Responsibilities Represents the CESD LEEP program and demonstrates effective instructional and behavioral coaching skills, is collaborative, works effectively in a team and presents with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with all stakeholders. Maintains all current certifications that include physical management. Uses a trauma-informed mindset as their guide in supporting students, staff and parents in determining intervention strategies.Minimum qualifications: Five years recent successful experience supporting students with complex developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorder in a school setting. Master Level degree or higher in a behavior analyst certification board (BACB) approved field or Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Ability to acquire and maintain a type of physical management certification approved by CESD at the trainer level. Knowledge about effective school-based behavior supports for students who qualify for special education including both prevention and intervention strategies guided by the Oregon Department of Education. Collaborative consultation skills which focus on meeting the needs of the student experiencing behavioral challenges. Ability to facilitate groups in meetings and workshop settings. Ability to effectively engage in a variety of team-based service delivery, planning, decision making, and problem solving. Must have own transportation and a valid driver’s licensePreferred qualifications: Oregon Teaching License with Special Education EndorsementSalary: Salary based on experience.
