Summary of Position :

This position will review, interpret, set up and maintain complex Oil and Gas Leases, contracts, instruments, and surface agreements, specific to the Permian Basin. This position will be responsible for special projects and will work closely with the Lease and Contracts Manager

Primary Job Responsibilities :

  • Analyze, interpret, set up and maintain complex leases, contracts and/or instruments to determine and monitor ownership, rights, obligations, responsibilities, and costs of interest.
  • Evaluate and determine the status of leases for the properties being shut-in, plugged, temporarily abandoned, etc., and advise and coordinate with Mineral Land as to what must be done to maintain the acreage involved.
  • Review other analysts’ set-up and maintenance of leases, minerals, contracts and surface records for accuracy.
  • Monitor lease and contact obligations, payment of rentals, minimum royalties and shut-in gas royalties in complex development areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate acreage figures concerning areas of responsibility where company is actively drilling.
  • Calculate payment amounts, prepare check request, and transmit check with letter of explanation and receipt.
  • Investigate and resolve questions and problems posed by Company departments and outside operators.
  • Mentor and assist in the training of less experienced team members.
  • Assist Lease and Contracts Manager with special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred skills in data management, analysis and reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Oil and Gas Lease provisions and general Land Department functions.
  • Ability to be flexible, collaborative and professional under pressure and deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of standard industry contracts.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work with and keep confidential, sensitive information.
  • Ability to train and mentor a variety of personnel.
  • Preferred knowledge of Bolo Land Module System, including query proficiency.
  • High level of diligence and attention to detail.

Education & Experience :

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Oil and Gas Industry with emphasis on Lease and Contracts or related work.
  • Permian Basin Experience preferred.
  • Bolo Experience preferred.

Travel Requirements :

  • Work is performed at a CIVI location Tues-Thurs with an option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
  • Schedule: traditional 40-hour workweek or alternative schedule of 9 hour works days M-Thurs and 4-hour workdays Friday.

Base Pay Range: $90,000 - $94,800
