Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. is Hiring a Landfill Gas Project Manager Near Naperville, IL

Overview

In this role, you will work on a variety of landfill gas system (LFG) operations, management and maintenance projects primarily associated with solid waste facilities. These projects will include regulatory compliance support such as compliance task management, and data collection. Assignments will include oversight of field teams tasked with ensuring the highest standards of LFG wellfield development by effectively managing the implementation of LFG collection and control system (LFGCCS) designs as related to wellfield optimization. Will include consulting with internal, external and client-assigned management and design teams to formulate and establish optimization plans and manage implementation of site repairs and improvements.

Duties shall also include overseeing field teams performing environmental monitoring for landfill gas and air monitoring systems at open and close solid waste management facilities.

General Job Duties:

  • Understand LFG wellfield and collection systems;
  • Understand and perform LFG design and construction;
  • Understand LFG treatment and disposal systems (Flaring systems, etc.);
  • Understand operation and maintenance of landfill gas (LFG) collection systems;
  • If necessary, coordinate materials, equipment, and labor for construction projects;
  • Manage projects and resources to effectively meet and/or exceed margin goals;
  • Proposal, cost estimate, and invoice preparation;
  • Client relations and new business development;
  • Environmental data evaluation and management;
  • Produce professional correspondence and reports;
  • Develop creative and cost-effective solutions for LFGCCS operational issues;
  • Assist in the management and completion of LFGCCS construction projects;
  • Manage working relationships with project owners;
  • Participates in employee hiring process;
  • Ensures all employees are properly trained on the requirements of their respective position;
  • Reviews, approves, and submits employee timesheets and expense reimbursements;
  • Provides employees with honest and timely feedback and coaching on performance; and
  • Conducts annual performance reviews with employees.

Qualifications

  • At least 10 professional engineering experience in the solid waste industry;
  • Experience with environmental monitoring systems (landfill gas, groundwater, etc.);
  • Experience with environmental permitting including solid waste and air;
  • Experience with LFG management systems;
  • Familiarity with solid waste facility design, LFG system design, and construction quality assurance;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.);
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to manage deadlines;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management and employees;
  • Ability to work remotely with limited supervision;
  • High level of organizational skills and high attention to detail; and
  • Ability to coordinate and complete multiple tasks and goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field (optional);
  • E.I.T. or FE certification, P.E. or P.G. with applicable experience (optional);
  • Create solutions for LFGCCS development and design for RNG development;
  • Experience with Title V, NSPS, and similar regulatory programs; and
  • Proficiency with database applications.
