The Database Developer is responsible for supporting the needs of multiple business teams within Civic, with a focus on the SQL Data Warehouse and SQL Reporting Server; Application database design, development, code reviews, and testing; and the movement of data from application systems and external sources into the SQL Servers.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop high quality database solutions providing data for reporting and application development.
  • Design, develop and maintain database code (schemas, stored procedures, views, triggers, indexes (familiarity with Microsoft databases including Azure).
  • Develop and maintain SQL jobs and ETL/ELT.
  • Develop and maintain reporting solutions
  • Develop ad-hoc queries for troubleshooting.
  • Develop and maintain requirements, specifications and documentation.
  • Maintain SOX compliance in SDLC, Change Management, data access/movement, etc.
  • Analyze database performance and make improvements.
  • Monitor SQL Server environments (Azure and On-Prem) and daily operations.
  • Work closely with business analysts, IT professionals and project managers to understand their data requirements for existing and future projects involving data – big and small.
  • Work with IT and data owners to understand the types of data collected in various databases and data warehouses helping maintain their integrity and security.
  • Conduct testing and perform troubleshooting on databases to ensure accuracy, security, and efficiency.
  • Develop procedures and scripts for data migration across databases and ensure migrated data is accurate and intact.
  • Create and optimize SQL queries to sort, retrieve or store data.
  • Create program views, functions, and stored procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize stored procedures and functions using T-SQL.
  • Review and interpret ongoing business report requirements; research required data.
  • Build appropriate and useful reporting deliverables. Provide timely scheduled deliverables.
  • Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements; suggest new queries.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred; or a combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a SQL Developer or similar role.
  • 3 years of hands-on experience with SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Server Analysis Services.
  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with the practical application of unstructured data (Azure Cosmos DB).
  • Sense of ownership and pride in performance and impact to company’s success
