City of Winchester is Hiring a Public Services Technician Near Winchester, VA
- Repairs and services (includes testing) fire hydrants;
- Locates underground utilities using maps, rods, and electronic equipment;
- Assists in preventative maintenance on water and sewer lines;
- Reads water meters, entering data into portable handheld meter reading devices;
- Checks meters for leaks, repairs as needed;
- Installs and removes meters;
- Assists in repairs of water and sewer lines;
- Inspects lift stations and assists with preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, and equipment;
- Uses hand tools related to water and sewer repairs;
- Makes water and sewer taps;
- Snow/Ice removal (which includes 12 hour shifts possibly nights, weekends & holidays);
- Assists in other areas of Public Services as needed;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required
- Some related experience in the construction/plumbing industry is preferred.
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to obtain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with Tanker endorsement within 9 months of start date
