This is work that may include some supervisory duties. Employees perform a variety of mechanical and building trade tasks. Although performance of skilled work is required in many of the repairs made, skills required in any one type of trade are usually less than would be required of a journeyman in that field. Work differs between positions, but in most cases primary emphasis is upon mechanical ability and skills as applied to the department's maintenance activities. Work is performed independently, but frequently is inspected upon completion.
Days and Hours: Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3:00pmFour years of experience as a skilled worker in building and mechanical repair work, or applicable documented playground training, including welding training and/or experience required.
National Recreation and Park Association certificated as a Playground Safety Institute certification (CPSI) is preferred at hire but required within 6 months of hire.
Two years of supervisory experience required four years preferred.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of the results of a criminal record check.
Starting pay for current City employees will be determined by City of Wichita policy or applicable bargaining unit agreement.
