Join our team as a Customer Service Associate and play a vital role in supporting the City's customer service initiatives. Under the guidance of the Customer Relations Supervisor, you will contribute to enhancing internal and external tools to facilitate the success of our customer service team. This multifaceted role involves utilizing various platforms such as the website, Google Docs and Sheets, internal newsletters, and other outreach efforts to ensure seamless interactions with our valued community members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exemplary, professional, and courteous service in all interactions with colleagues, customers, and community members.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative environment, adhering to established policies, procedures, and objectives of the City, Department, and Division.
  • Serve as a frontline contact for City Hall, warmly greeting visitors, addressing inquiries, and resolving concerns.
  • Provide comprehensive customer support to City employees, residents, developers, and community leaders via phone, email, and in-person interactions.

Job Qualifications – Education, experience, and training that are required or desirable in order to effectively perform the job at the time of hire. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience is required; experience in customer service and in working with websites, social media, or newsletters is preferred.
  • Additional job-related degrees or certifications may be considered in lieu of experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.

  • Ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, co-workers, and customers by telephone, in writing and in person.
  • Intermediate knowledge in the use of basic business software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, presentations) and basic office equipment.
  • Ability to follow clear and established processes.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision, and to deliver own work according to specific operational targets within the department.
  • Ability to complete routine and more robust tasks assigned in a timely manner.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain focused concentration.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work, as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential job duty. Job requires being reliable, responsible and dependable.
