As part of the City Manager’s Office team, reporting directly to the Assistant City Manager, this position is responsible for city-wide capital facilities planning, construction and maintenance for city owned facilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: For purposes of 42 USC 12101: 1. Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for facility maintenance and repairs. Serves as contract administrator for contracted maintenance; receives and handles complaints; evaluates service and makes recommendations as to efficiency.
2. Supervises assigned staff (e.g., recommends and develops policy; interviews applicants; recommends hiring, discipline, and firing; leads, motivates, collaborates, empowers, rewards, coaches, and praises; trains and instructs employees; assigns and directs work; appraises and evaluates performance; addresses complaints and resolves problems); directs day-to-day operations of Facility Maintenance.
3. Prepares 5 year capital plan and annual operating and capital budget requests for Facilities Maintenance; establish schedules and methods for providing facility maintenance; prepares records, reports, presentations to City Council and other documentation (e.g., operational, financial, programmatic, etc.); conducts assessments of needs.
4. Maintains contact with vendors and contractors, recommends purchases, processes and cost saving measures, orders parts, materials and equipment, develops and implements preventative maintenance schedule, performs regular safety checks throughout facilities to ensure safe and clean environment.
5. Plan, coordinate and provide project management of construction projects, remodels, and other special projects including the preparation of requests for proposals, bidding specifications, contract review and pay applications.
6. As needed, performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks to assist with basic facility maintenance tasks.
7. Maintains licenses and certifications as required, if any.
8. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
9. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable safety standards that pertain to essential functions.

Two (2) years of college level course work in business, management, engineering, or a related facility field and
four (4) years of increasingly responsible facility maintenance experience including supervisory experience and government procurement; or any combination of training, education, or experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and the ability to maintain insurability under the City’s vehicle insurance policy.
