The City of Torrance is currently accepting applications for the Summer Volunteer Internship Program. Summer Interns work alongside dedicated City professionals to gain both academic and practical experience working in local government. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the City of Torrance and the exceptional services it provides to the community.
The goals of the program are to engage college students for the purpose of career exploration and civic engagement in public service. In addition, the Summer Intern will develop job skills, gain work experience, and build a professional network.

The following City Departments are hosting a 2024 Summer Intern:
Office of the City Clerk - Office of the City Manager - Community Services - Public Works - Transit - Human Resources
Participants will also participate in career workshops and receive a behind the scenes tours of City Departments and Services!

Hours: Summer Interns are expected to commit to an eight (8) week term of service, from June 17 - August 08, 2024. The schedule for the program is 20 hours per week to be arranged with the sponsoring departments.
Education:- Must be currently enrolled in a qualified academic institution and have completed two (2) years in good standing (junior or senior class standing, which equates to at least 60 semester units or 90 quarter units completed)
OR
- Graduated in the last six (6) months with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
AND
- Possess at least a cumulative 3.0 G.P.A.
Ideal Candidate:We are looking for highly motivated students with a sincere desire to be mentored in the area of municipal government. The ideal candidate will be reliable, flexible, and proactive. The filing period begins
