POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
SENIOR PLANNER
City of The Dalles
DEFINITION: A professional land use planning position manages advanced level planning projects including analyzing, reviewing, and preparing land use codes, comprehensive plan, land use and development, sign codes, and related ordinance amendments of the City. Reviews and manages a variety of complex land use applications including, but not limited to conditional use permits, plan and zone changes and subdivision, and presenting them to the Planning Commission and City Council. This includes intake and customer assistance. Considerable work will be in the area of historic preservation. This position is lead staff for the Historic Landmark Commission.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Education: Bachelor's degree in planning, geography, architecture, landscape architecture, environmental design, law, public administration, or related fields.
And,
Experience: At least five (5) years of progressively responsible professional planning experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver's license.
American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) designation is preferred.
PAY:, The pay range for this position is from $77,984.74 to $95,911.40 plus generous benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision and retirement contributions of 13.5% of base wage after one year of employment.
