Purpose:
The Play Mobile Program Coordinator position is all about play and having fun. The ideal candidate will be outgoing, approachable and have a passion for working with youth. Join in on the fun while getting paid.
This is a fun part-time, 15-20 hours/week job that requires weekday afternoon (2 - 6:30 p.m.) availability. *Summer Schedule 5/27-7/18 (12:00-5:30)
Play Mobile is a free year-round program designed for older elementary and middle school aged youth (although all ages are welcome). The mobile recreation unit removes barriers to participation in out-of-school time recreational experiences while creating fun and safe spaces for play and social engagement. Some activities include sports, games, arts and crafts, STEM projects and more.
The program coordinator will work closely with the Assistant Recreation Coordinator to lead interactive programs and activities, engage with youth and provide a safe, fun and positive environment.
Experience & Training:
· Experience working with youth required
· Programming experience in the areas of recreation, before/after school programs, childcare or related fields is preferred
· Activity plans will be provided, but candidate must possess skills to lead youth in the areas of sports, games and arts and crafts
· Requires successful completion of required selection process, successful completion of background investigation, drug test, verification of identity and work authorization

Essential Job Functions:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Recreation Coordinator:
· Assist with the day-to-day operations of a mobile recreation unit – Play Mobile, including driving the 15-passenger cargo van
· Aid in designing and organizing a variety of recreational activities for youth; Lead those activities
· Lead daily set-up and take-down of Play Mobile program including lifting/moving equipment and materials for activities
· Create a safe, fun and engaging environment for all participants while maintaining control of site
· Oversee on-site attendance records, materials check-out sheets and daily logs
· Effectively market the Play Mobile and other City of Tempe programs during program and special events
· Keep vehicle clean, organized and secure during program
· Clean and maintain equipment and materials, ensuring they are in safe and in working order, report any needs for repairs and/or replacement
