CLASS TITLE: Maintenance Team Member

DEPARTMENT: PARKS & RECREATION/PUBLIC WORKS

JOB SUMMARY:

Reports to Supervisor or Team Leader, in the absence of the Supervisor. Under supervision performs simple to moderately complex tasks to ensure the maintenance of city facilities and equipment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Essential Functions:

• Performs routine maintenance tasks on a regularly scheduled basis for the purpose of upkeep to city owned facilities and grounds.
• Participates and assists in duties such as:
• Maintaining and repairing storm water infrastructure.
• Park maintenance, including but not limited to, removing trash, replacing dog stations, prepping athletic fields for activities, clearing walking trails.
• General Landscaping, including but not limited to, mowing, weeding, trimming limbs, mulching and planting flower beds.
• Tournament, Special Events, Holiday Lighting
• Yard debris and leaf collection.
• Road repair and street sign replacements.
• Minor tool and equipment repairs.

• Operates vehicles, dump truck, backhoe, mowers, tractors with implements, tiller, spreader, string trimmer, blower, hedge shears, edger, motorized sprayer and chain saw; transports personnel/materials, etc.; ensures timely maintenance of department equipment.
• Performs other duties as specified by Grounds/Public Works Supervisors, Grounds/Public Works Superintendent, Operations Director, Parks & Recreation Director, Deputy City Manager or City Manager as requested

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Light and heavy equipment, small tools as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED and at least two years of maintenance experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Valid state driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
