GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Performs professional, technical, and analytical support in a LAN/WAN environment, using Microsoft operating systems and a variety of application software. Work involves providing primary support for all network operations, personal computer systems, telecommunications, and hardware and software issues. Serves as technical liaison between Information Technology (IT) Department staff, city staff, and computer vendors and consultants.
 
Position typically supervises employees and schedules day-to-day work activities to provide optimum efficiency and productivity. Position requires the ability to apply a wide application of principles, theories, and concepts to the assigned function or business area. Reports to the Deputy Chief Information Officer.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Installs, maintains, and supports all information technology services and equipment including but not limited to, network, server, storage and telecommunications infrastructure, personal computer systems, printers, and other peripherals.
 
Plans, coordinates, and directs complex projects or the implementation of new programs.
 
Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves a variety of complex issues and problems; enlists resources as necessary.
 
Manages the setup and configuration of network and storage infrastructure and wireless network equipment, and telecommunications infrastructure, including adding, removing, and updating users.
 
Manages the overall operation of servers; sets up and configures server infrastructure, which primarily consists of physical servers / ESXi Hosts, and a VMware virtual environment.
 
Manages the setup and configuration of system and network policies, security, and backup solution; tests and implements new patches, updates and upgrades to servers, workstations, and network equipment.
 
Provides guidance and direction, as requested, to Technical Support Representatives in the installation and support of user workstations, networking systems, and other equipment, including system software and hardware configurations.
Assists IT staff with networking procedures, technical problems, and methods.
 
Assists users with Central Square Technologies enterprise and application software, and with IBM iSeries job processing issues, re-routing jobs, or otherwise determining user processing problems.
 
Controls the city’s user access program; ensures users are assigned to security groups and provided additional application security as needed; assures the timely and efficient user onboarding. 
 
Adheres to all city and public health and safety guidelines and protocols; performs job functions in a safe manner and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures.
 
Maintains quality communication and interaction with all city personnel, representatives from external organizations, and the public to maintain good will toward the city and to project a positive city image.
 
Demonstrates behaviors that support the City’s Vision and Values.
 
Maintains on-call work availability as assigned, to prepare for, respond to, or recover from a hurricane, tropical weather event, or other emergency to meet the city’s obligation to remain operational before, during, and after the event; duties assigned may or may not be typical of the job and are contingent upon the needs of the city and the residents because of the event.
 
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those interacted with during work regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, disability, political affiliation, military service, or diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities
Reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures and meets with management staff to identify and resolve problems.
 
Assesses and monitors workload; identifies opportunities for improvement and implements changes.
 
Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates staff; provides or coordinates staff training; works with staff to correct deficiencies; makes recommendations regarding discipline and termination.
Pay and Bargaining Status
This is an exempt position pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act based on the executive and administrative exemptions and is paid by salary, issued bi-weekly. This position is excluded from the collective bargaining agreements between the City of Tamarac and the Federation of Public Employees and between the City of Tamarac and the Local 3080, Metro-Broward Professional Fire Fighters, IAFF.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field; supplemented by four (4) years of experience in network administration of a virtualized Microsoft server LAN/WAN environment and Cisco Systems-based network/telecommunications infrastructure; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.
Required Certifications and Licenses
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver License and the ability to drive a city owned vehicle per established policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
 
National Incident Management System (NIMS) training is required (and sponsored) within six (6) months of employment according to job duties and responsibilities.
 
Network Certification within six (6) months of hire/promotion
Palo Alto Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA) Certification within six (6) months of hire/promotion
Microsoft Technology Certification in Windows Server – Last 2 generations within six (6) months of hire/promotion
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skill in Microsoft SQL Server.
Skill in Microsoft Exchange Online.
Skill in Microsoft SharePoint.
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) Certification
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Certification
