The City of Sunnyside currently has opening in the Water Division for a Maintenance Worker. A maintenance worker in the Water Division is responsible for performing regular and reoccurring installation, maintenance and repair activities for City water systems, facilities and grounds. Job functions are performed in cooperation with other members of the Water Division.

Essential Job Functions

• Inspects, installs, maintains, and repairs water main pipes which can include sewer lines to the meter, water well pumps, and related equipment.
• General maintenance of water division equipment, facilities and fixtures.
• Makes service connections to water main using special taping equipment to install valves, lateral water lines, hydrants and meters.
• Operates motorized equipment including skid steer, bobcat, backhoe, loader, small and large dump trucks, roller, tractor and vactor trucks.
• Lays and align pipe for proper grade, completes meter hookups, tests installation in accordance with established procedures and back fills excavation.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Two (2) years previous experience in water maintenance/installation or general construction
• Water Distribution Manager (WDM) 1 Certification
• Cross Connections Specialist (CCS) Certification
• Valid Washington State Driver's License
• Valid Commercial Driver's License Class B with appropriate endorsements
• Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to efficiently perform the essential functions of the position
