Parks & Recreation is looking for seasonal Rodeo Maintenance Workers!
 
This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled and technical tasks in the maintenance and operation of the Rodeo complex and all associated buildings and grounds.
 
 Limited subsidized housing may be available for seasonal positions. 
Seasonal employees working for the rodeo grounds who work 20 hours a week or more and complete the season will receive a $2/hour end of season bonus.
 
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: 
Works under the supervision of the Howelsen Ski and Rodeo Supervisor and the Howelsen ski and Rodeo Foreman.
 
SUPERVISION EXERCISED 
Occasionally supervises parks workers, volunteers, and community services workers. Prepares the Rodeo Grounds for Pro Rodeo performances including prepping the grounds, restrooms, and parking lots, and staffs the event to ensure successful operation of the facility.
 
Grooms Rodeo arenas with a tractor and arena drag.
 
Cleans animal pens with skidsteer and other related equipment on a regular basis.
 
Cleans the bleachers, restrooms, and other areas of the facility for public and Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series usage.
 
Staffs the Rodeo facility for Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series performances and special events. Coordinates with arena personnel to provide an exceptional experience for attendees.
 
Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
 
Repairs irrigation and water systems servicing stock at the Rodeo facility.
 
Drives light to medium trucks in the loading, hauling, and unloading of various equipment, gravel, sand, dirt, etc.
 
Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor or mechanic.
 
Operates medium-sized to light construction and power equipment, such as, tractors with various implements, water truck, mowers, pick-up trucks, skid steer, and small dump trucks.
 
Ensures that all tools are kept in good working order and are stored properly daily.
 
Opens and closes, locks and unlocks facilities as needed.
 
Keeps detailed records of work complete.
 
 
 In General:
May be required to work weekends during peak operations.
 
Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
 
Drives light to medium trucks in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, gravel, sand, dirt, snow etc.
 
Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor or mechanic.
 
Operates medium-sized to light construction and power equipment, such as, tractors with various implements, mowers, pick-up trucks, and small dump trucks.
 
PERIPHERAL DUTIES
Occasionally assists other divisions within the Parks and Recreation department.Education and Experience: 
  1. Graduation from high school education or GED equivalent, and
  2. Two (2) years of experience relating to landscaping, maintenance, or repair, or
  3. Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
 Necessary knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  1. Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction and repair activities;
  2. Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment;
  3. Previous experience in trail maintenance and construction required;
  4. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; Ability to work safely; Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public;
  5. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
 SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 
 Valid State of Colorado Driver’s license and ability to maintain one.EOE.
Compensation range is $24.37 - $29.62/hour and placement within the range is dependent upon relevant experience, certifications, and qualifications.
