City of St. Peters, MO is Hiring a DIRECTOR OF STORM WATER Near Saint Peters, MO

JOB OBJECTIVES: Under administrative direction, performs responsible supervisory and technical work in the development, operations, maintenance and repair of City’s Storm Water Systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides supervision over Storm Water employees.
  • Responsible for recommendations concerning selection, hiring and termination
  • Responsible for budget preparation, monitors that work activities and purchases are within budget and prepares related documents.
  • Responsible for developing and determining administrative policies, regulatory actions and capital purchases.
  • Responsible for the City’s MS4 Permit. Ensures proactive and responsive equipment and facilities maintenance.
  • Reviews and ensures response to customer/resident inquiries, concerns and complaints.
  • Performs a variety of administrative and technical tasks related to the development, operations, maintenance and activities of City Storm Water facilities.
  • Provides leadership and direction in the development of short and long-range improvements for Storm Water programs, activities, personnel, and equipment.
  • Ensures coordination with Field and Plant Operations staff for budget preparation and certain work activities.
  • Ensures that department emergency operation plan is implemented and required equipment and materials are in a continuous ready mode.
  • Prepares and manages procurement, construction and professional services contracts.
  • Performs all work in compliance with established City safety standards.
  • Performs other work as assigned.

JOB STANDARDS:

  • Ability to prepare, review and maintain records, reports and files essential to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive information and to resolve quality concerns.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or related field and five (5) years of experience in management at municipal Public Works maintenance and construction, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Missouri Professional Engineer license or valid Professional Engineer license and obtain Missouri Professional Engineer license within one (1) year.
  • Considerable knowledge of storm water systems consisting of green infrastructure construction and maintenance methods, State and Federal permitting as it relates to levees, storm water projects, and storm sewer construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance.
  • Advanced knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database computer applications programs.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Thorough knowledge of construction and maintenance methods, materials and equipment employed in municipal public works.
  • Thorough knowledge of the City’s Storm Water systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of City codes, specifications and ordinances as pertaining to streets and storm sewers.
  • Working knowledge of practices of municipal engineering, particularly as they relate to streets and storm sewers.
  • Familiar with MS4 Permit Structure

EQUIPMENT/VEHICLES (Includes but is not limited to the following): Automobile, pickup truck, small hand tools, calculator, computer workstation. JOB LOCATION: City facilities and on-site field locations REPORTS TO: Manager, Water Environment Services

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $50.89 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
