Perform general work for the Parks Facilities, including a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of buildings, grounds, and parks and recreation structures. Provides maintenance for building and grounds. Provide preventive maintenance procedures to assure proper care of equipment. Maintain building operations maintenance policies, standard operating and safety procedures, goals, and objectives. Repair and replace worn plumbing fixtures and appurtenances, such as water heaters, lavatories, sinks, showers, faucets, and washers. Perform rough carpentry tasks, and minor electrical repairs. Responsible for set up of equipment and material for special events. Perform maintenance and have knowledge of swimming pool equipment, pumps, and chemicals. Clean and maintains grounds, swimming pools, paths, playground equipment, and walks. Basic knowledge of painting, floor maintenance, janitorial procedures, etc. Ability to be work successfully in extreme hot and/or extreme cold temperatures; excessive humidity; slippery and uneven walking surfaces, excessive noise, and other extreme conditions such as noxious fumes, moving heavy machinery, etc. Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.
Broad knowledge of building maintenance and repair. Substantial experience in the field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Considerable knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations, and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation program. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Skills in First Aid and CPR. Ability to effectively communicate on a one-on-one basis with others. Ability to maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with other employees, department officials and the public. Ability to report to work each scheduled day, and on time. This job description should not be interpreted as all-inclusive.
