JOB The Animal Shelter Technician is responsible for the care of impounded animals, duties related to the licensing of animals, and the operations and cleanliness of the animal shelter. This is a part time, non-union, non-civil service position. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Clean animal stalls and feed animals as required. Care for and release impounded animals to owners.Open the animal shelter and disarm the alarm system upon arrival, and secure and set the alarm before leaving. Clean the office as required.During open shelter hours, perform customer service duties including greeting and directing the public in a prompt, warm and service-oriented manner. Provide telephone coverage and maintain a log of incoming calls, action taken, and other information required for proper documentation. Complete the required daily report on all activities.Maintain accurate records of all transactions conducted including those related to dog licenses, adoptions, impounds, surrenders, and releases.With professional integrity, establish and maintain appropriate and effective communication and work relationships with City staff, as well as the general public, local, state and federal agencies.The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be assigned.
